SASSA Grant Increase in August 2025: Check Full Payment Dates and New Amounts

This is indeed a good thing for millions of South Africans who rely on a stipend for survival; the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has officially announced an increment in the grants due from August 2025 for all social grant recipients along with the payment dates and new grant amounts. Such increases have been implemented to mitigate the soaring cost of living and other economic pressures faced by people.

New SASSA Grant Amounts for August 2025

As from August 2025, an increase is expected to be witnessed in the monthly SASSA grants under all categories. A quick view of the new SASSA grant amounts follows: 

  • Old Age Grant (60–74 years): Increased from R2,180 to R2,230
  • Old Age Grant (75+ years): Increased from R2,200 to R2,250
  • Disability Grant: Increased from R2,180 to R2,230
  • Child Support Grant: Increased from R530 to R550
  • Foster Child Grant: Increased from R1,180 to R1,200
  • Care Dependency Grant: Increased from R2,180 to R2,230
  • SRD (R350) Grant / SRD (R370) Grant: Remains R370 following the slight increase of R20 earlier in the year. 

These new amounts reflect the government’s continued commitment to soothe the everyday citizen from the sting of rising prices in fuel, food, and electricity.

SASSA Payment Dates for August 2025

SASSA has hence also released the Official Payment Schedule for August 2025. Each grant is allocated a specific date for processing and collection so that there is no hold-up. The official SASSA Pay Dates are as follows:

  • Older Person’s Grant: Wednesday, 07 August 2025
  • Disability Grant: Thursday, 08 August 2025
  • Children’s Grants (including Foster and Care Dependents): Friday, 09 August 2025
  • The SRD R370 grant will be paid between the 23rd and 30th of August 2025, depending on how quickly banks process the verification protocol.

Beneficiaries are advised there is no rush to be the very first ones to go and collect their grant, the money will simply lie there in their accounts until they decide to withdraw it. Using thebank account, Postbank cards, or through retail outlets like Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Checkers, or Boxer is convenient and safe.

Important Notes for Beneficiaries

Verify that your banking and phone number details linked to your SASSA profile are correct and up to date to avoid any hindrances in the payment of SRD grants.
Check the SRD grant status or payment information online at srd.sassa.gov.za.
If you collect your grant via cash send or retail outlets, remember to take your ID and phone with the registered number.
