SASSA R350 And Pension Grants Paid Together On 29 August, Big Relief For Beneficiaries

R350 And Pension Grants 2025 : Thousands of South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) beneficiaries can breathe a sigh of relief this month as both the R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant and a monthly pension grant are due to be paid on Thursday, 29 August 2025. The joint disbursements would mean much needed cash injections into household budgets for many families and a smoother start to the new month.

Why It Is A Much-Welcomed Development

For months, grant recipients have gone through their payments schedule with fingers crossed and hoping for a positive outcome, with at least days often elapsing between the different disbursements. This time, SASSA has confirmed that the R350 SRD grant payments along with those of the old age pension shall be processed on the same date, whereby beneficiaries may find it more convenient to withdraw both sums during one bank visit.

“This is a huge help for those who have to travel far or spend money to collect their grants,” said community worker Nomsa Dlamini. “It is about convenience and dignity for our elderly and unemployed citizens.”

Who Will Benefit?

The simultaneous payout will benefit:

  • All persons approved for the SRD R350 for August 2025 cycle
  • All who are pension (old age grant) beneficiaries scheduled for end-of-month payment date
  • All who receive their grants via bank transfer, SASSA card, or retail pay point

According to SASSA, no application or reapplication needs to be made if a person is already an approved beneficiary as payments will be processed automatically.

How The Payment Will Work

Beneficiaries with bank accounts should expect to see deposits on 29 August or within 1-2 business days, depending on their bank’s processing times.

Those using SASSA cards or collecting at retail points will be able to withdraw their funds on the date of payment, but officials urge recipients not to rush en masse to collection points in order to avert overcrowding.

A Boost In Tough Times

An admission is some relief for the poor and needy in the payment of foodstuffs, storage, and transport. Most pensioners use the grant themselves and assist unemployed family members. On the other side, the SRD R350 grant is a lifeline for millions without formal income. Lerato Mokoena, spokesperson for SASSA, said beneficiaries should beware: “Protect your PIN, never share your card with anyone, and beware of scamming claims promising fast track payments. SASSA does not charge any fees.”
