SASSA SRD Grant 2025: An increase of the SRD grant from R350 to R400 as per the announcement from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has been put in place with effect from 2025. - Be a South African citizen, permanent residence, or recognised refugee.
SASSA will continue to check applicants’ income status and banking details before approval to ensure that the grant is reaching the deserving beneficiaries.
How To Apply For The Increased SRD Grant
Applying for the R400 SRD grant is very quick and easy:
- On the Internet – Go to the SASSA SRD website to fill out the updated 2025 application form.
- WhatsApp – Use SASSA’s official WhatsApp channel to send in your application.
- Offline – Apps can apply at the nearest SASSA offices if they do not have internet access.
Applicants must provide ID numbers, proof of residence, and banking information. After verifying the applicants’ information, an SMS confirmation will be sent from SASSA, and applicants will be alerted upon approval or rejection.
Payment Dates For 2025
The SASSA has, however, confirmed that payment for this increased R400 SRD grant will start as of February 2025, with monthly payments following the same schedule as previous years, i.e., directly into bank accounts or SASSA cards of beneficiaries. Beneficiaries who have no access to banking may collect cash at approved pay points or participating retailers. Beneficiaries must verify that their banking details are on line on the SASSA portal to avoid payments being delayed.
