SASSA August 2025 Payment Dates Confirmed For R350, Pension & Disability Grants

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has released its August 2025 weekly payment schedule to ensure timely support for over 19 million beneficiaries. Starting August 5, 2025, all grants, including an SRD grant of R370, Older Persons’ Grants, and Disability Grants, will be paid to vulnerable households amidst 5.2 percent inflation. The article shares the schedule, along with the verification requirements and tips to avoid delays.

August 2025 Payment Schedule

With the timetable in place, SASSA ensures that there won’t be congestion at payment points:

  • Older Persons Grant, August 5, 2025: 60–74 years: R2,315; 75+ years: R2,335. Also includes Care Dependency Grants.
  • Disability Grant, August 6, 2025: R2,315 for permanent disabilities and temporary disabilities.
  • Children’s Grants, August 7, 2025: Child Support Grant (R560), Foster Child (R1,250), and Care Dependency.

SRD Grant, R370 from August 25 to 29, 2025, exact dates will be communicated via SMS.Payments should be visible in the bank accounts within 2 to 3 working days or could be accessed at ATMs and SASSA-affiliated retailers such as Shoprite using the SASSA Gold Cards. The date of August 8 is a new addendum for grants under review.

Importance of the Schedule

By observing a staggered schedule, the overcrowding at banks and pay stations is reduced, hence ensuring safety and efficiency. With 55.5 percent of South Africans living under the poverty line, these grants assist people in paying for essential things like food, utility costs, and medical expenditures. With a budget of R280 billion, grants provide timely payments to beneficiaries, thus injecting money into local economies through spending.

Verification and Compliance

To avoid delays-because these delays-does happen to grant holders weighing on over 12,000 across the 2025 suspension of grants-SASSA emphasizes that personal and banking details must be accurate. Beneficiaries:

  • Need to make use of a valid 13-digit smart ID, as green bar-coded IDs become invalid after August 15, 2025.
  • Must update banking details on sassa.gov.za.
  • Must perform income verifications, i.e., income below thresholds (e.g., R595 monthly for SRD). However, attempts at verification concerning over 210,000 grants were made in June 2025, stressing the need for compliance.

Accessing Payments

Beneficiaries have several available options:

  • Direct Bank Deposits: Quick and safest option; ensure that the accounts are in the beneficiary’s name.
  • SASSA Gold Card: Use the card to withdraw funds at ATM windows or pay bills at selected retailers such as Pick n Pay stores.
  • Cash Points: Pick up cash through a Post Office by showing ID and OTP. To check the status:
  • Visit srd.sassa.gov.za using WhatsApp (082 046 8553) or USSD code (1347737#).

Call the helpline at 0800 60 10 11 if there are any issues. Withdraw money off-peak hour to avoid long queues and the risk of being scammed.

Avoiding Delays and Scams

Usually caused by outdated records or failures in the verification process. Beneficiaries should, therefore:

  • Ensure to update records before July 31, 2025, otherwise will be suspended.
  • Never share PINs or click on suspicious links claiming to “release funds.”
  • Always trust and rely on official channels like sassa.gov.za or @OfficialSASSA on X for the latest information.
