SASSA Payout Dates Changed For August And September 2025, Check Your Grant Schedule

SASSA Grant Payment Dates Change 2025 : Depending on SASSA grants, millions of South Africans rely on an income to keep food on the table and pay for rent, among other essentials. SASSA holds that this will change for the schedule of payments in August 2025 and September. The dates were changed with the goal of speeding up the payment process, lessening crowding at payment points, and increasing safety and efficiency for grant beneficiaries to receive their grants.

August 2025 New Payment Dates

SASSA will start paying Older Persons Grants first on Tuesday, 5 August 2025. These will be followed by Disability Grants on Wednesday, 6 August 2025, and Children’s Grants, which include Child Support Grant and Foster Care Grant, will be paid on 7 August 2025.

Payments for the SRD R370 grant will be processed late in the month. The beneficiaries will receive individual SMS notifications from SASSA to notify them of the exact dates on which they can collect their payments, which will depend on their banking arrangements and their verification statuses.

Also, in August, SASSA has scheduled an extraordinary payment window for those older persons whose grants were suspended temporarily, awaiting income verification. Those individuals who can submit the requested documentation in due time shall be able to collect their funds also during this month.

September 2025, What Is In Store?

The staggered payments will continue in September. Older Persons Grants will be paid on 3 September 2025, Disability Grants on 4 September 2025, and Children’s Grants on 5 September 2025. SRD R370 Grant payees will be paid between 24 and 30 September, confirmation messages having been sent beforehand.

Why The Changes Are Important

Spreading out the payment dates by SASSA helps reduce long queues formed at pay points. For beneficiaries, who are the elderly and persons with disabilities, this has been a long-standing concern. The system adds safety so that people have more time and flexibility to collect their grants without having to wait unnecessarily or go through the stress of travel. The extra chance to make a payment while many are undergoing verification is welcome because that extra payment ensures the income of a person is not cut while waiting for administrative processes to be completed.

What Beneficiaries Should Do

Beneficiaries should check that their personal information and banking details are up to date with SASSA to avoid any delays in paying out grants. Anyone accredited for income verification should make it a point to submit required documents promptly, such as updated IDs or proof of income. Keeping track of SMS updates and planning collection days accordingly will make the process of grants smoother for all.
