SASSA R700 Payment 2025 : The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced a grant payment of R700 for all those who qualify in 2025, in a bid to with some financial relief for those being tested by increasing costs of living. Who Qualifies For The R700 Payment?
The grant of R700 targets South African citizens, permanent residents and recognised refugees who fit certain criteria. Applicants must:
- Be 18 years or older.
- Have a monthly income below the SASSA threshold.
- Not receive any other full-time government-funded social grant (excluding child grants).
- Be unemployed or earn a minimal income.
SASSA officials have emphasized that all applications will be very thoroughly examined to ensure that only those persons who qualify will actually receive the payment.
How To Apply For The R700 Grant
Easy application method for the R700 grant: application can be done online or in person.
- Online Application– Visit the official sassa.gov.za website and fill in the R700 grant form. You will require an ID number, proof of income, and bank details to complete online application.
- Application by way of Appearing in Person – Go to the nearest Sassa office with your identity document, proof of residence, and evidence of financial support.
You will receive an SMS once your application has been submitted and another notification once the application is approved.
When Will You Get Paid?
It has been announced by SASSA that beneficiaries whose applications have been approved will start receiving payments of R700 into their accounts from 15 September 2025. Payments will be made through bank deposit into the beneficiary’s bank account, SASSA Postbank card, or cash collection points if the beneficiary does not have a bank account. Beneficiaries are advised to verify whether their personal and banking details in SASSA records are correct before the stipulated payment date to avoid any delays.
