SRD R370 Grant Summary
This SRD, which was increased from R350 to R370 in April 2024, is meant for South African residents aged 18 to 59 who have no income or other social grants in their name. In 2025, with a poverty line percentage of 55.5% and 32.9% as the unemployment rate, this grant is nearly the only means of survival for people to afford basic foodstuffs and utilities. August 2025 Payment Dates
The payment window for the August 2025 SRD has been officially announced by SASSA which will run from the 25th to 29th of August 2025. Normally, the rest of the payments will be done on set days. SRD assignments vary with each person in general, being paid in the last week of each month. From there, payments take about 2-3 working days to reflect into the bank accounts. Beneficiaries have an option of picking up the payments through:
- Deposit money into the bank account.
- Withdraw money from an ATM using this SASSA – card or do cash withdrawal at supermarkets like Pick n Pay.
- Cash withdrawal is done at Post Office cash payout points, with valid ID and OTP.
The Eligibility Criteria
Applicants to receive R370 Grant:
- Must be South African citizens, or permanent residents, or registered refugees.
- Must be unemployed and between 18 and 59 years of age.
- Have a monthly income amounting to less than 595 ZAR (verified through databases such as SARS or UIF, etc.).
- Must not be in receipt of any SASSA grants or UIF benefits.
- Must possess a genuine 13-digit Smart ID (By the way, the green bar-coded IDs shall no longer be valid as from August 15, 2025).
How To Register for the Grant
Applying for the first time or applying again:
- Visit srd.sassa.gov.za and go to the SRD.
- Enter your 13-digit ID and cell phone number for an OTP.
- Fill in the form with accurate details about your personal and financial status.
- Upload required documents (ID, proof of unemployment, or affidavit).
- Click submit and make sure to retain the reference number for future tracking. Reapplication has to be periodically done, and errors such as wrong bank account number or an outdated phone number could cause delays or even rejection.
